We don't use a lot of ingredients. That's a choice, not a limitation.
Every formula starts with a question: does this ingredient earn its place? If it doesn't do something specific and useful for the skin, it doesn't go in. What's left is a short list of things that actually work — plant-based, carefully sourced, and the same batch after batch.
Our Approach
How ingredients are chosen
Every Mount Essence product is formulated with a specific skin need in mind — whether that's lasting moisture through an Alberta winter, a protective barrier for lips, or a rich conditioning treatment for dry skin. The ingredients we use are chosen because they address those needs directly, not because they sound good on a label.
We work with plant-based ingredients that have well-documented skin benefits — butters, oils, and waxes that have been used in skincare for a long time because they hold up. Nothing in our formulas is there as filler.
What We Stand Behind
The standards we hold to
Fewer ingredients means less room for things that irritate. Every item on the list is there for a reason.
No animal-derived ingredients. No beeswax, no lanolin. Every product is fully vegan and cruelty-free.
We don't use parabens, sulfates, or harsh synthetic additives. What we do use is chosen specifically to be gentle and effective.
Made in Calgary in small runs. Every batch gets the same attention — there's no volume threshold where quality slips.
Every ingredient is listed. If you want to know what something is and why it's there, we've documented it.
We don't quietly swap ingredients to cut costs. What's in the product today is what was in the first batch.
